Before You Begin
- Open the package carefully and confirm all parts are included.
- Assemble on a smooth, flat surface.
- No tools required.

1 Unpack
Remove all contents from the box and verify the items above.
2 Prepare the Brackets
Check that each bracket is pre-assembled.
If any came apart during shipping, align the three protruding lines with the matching holes and press firmly until they lock.
3 Insert the Brackets
Place one bracket in each corner of the base. They should stand straight up to form four vertical supports.
4 Install the Side Panels
Remove protective film.
Identify the "UP" side on each panel.
Slide each panel into the grooves between the brackets.
Ensure panels are fully seated so their tops are level with the bracket edges.
5 Install the Slider Door
Line up the slider door with the front rails on the top of the chamber.
Lower the door gently. It should glide down under its own weight.
Confirm that the glass sits flush with the panel edges and that the door slides open and closed smoothly.
6 Connect Power & Lighting
Locate the two USB ports on the side:

Automated Mushroom Grow Box
Fungi split from animals about 650 million years ago. Oysters on your worktop are ready to harvest in 5 to 7 days.
The Lykyn Smart Mushroom Grow Box runs the climate for each species, so you can get on with dinner. You top up the water. The box does the rest, and you cook what it grows.
What the Smart Mushroom Grow Box is
It is a glass-walled grow chamber for the worktop. It is not a bag of spawn that you spray each morning. Inside, an ultrasonic humidifier, two variable-speed fans, an LED array and a sensor work together. The single layer is 30 × 30 × 30 cm inside. The double layer stacks a second chamber on top.
The sensor reports to the Lykyn app on iOS and Android, so you can check the grow from your phone. The box connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only.
It is quiet, under 35 dB in use, and draws about 2.2 kWh a month. It does not heat or cool the room, so keep it somewhere at normal room temperature.
How it works, in three steps
- Scan the block. Each block carries a QR code. Scan it in the app and the box loads that species' climate profile.
- Top up the water and plug in. Fill the 2.8-litre reservoir. One refill covers the full cycle for most species. Connect USB-C power using your own adapter, rated 15 W or more. Close the chamber and leave it to it.
- Harvest and cook. Oysters are ready in 5 to 7 days, and lion's mane in 10 to 14. Cut the clusters at the base, then cook them before you eat them.
What you can grow
Eight species, each with its own profile on the block. Every one is an edible gourmet mushroom, and none is a psilocybin mushroom.
- Pink oyster. Soft pink caps and a mild, sweet taste. Good in a hot pan with butter.
- Blue oyster. Grey-blue caps and a nutty taste.
- Black oyster. Dark caps and a meaty, savoury taste.
- Golden oyster. Yellow caps and a buttery taste.
- Lion's mane. White and shaggy, with a texture many cooks compare to crab. Ready in 10 to 14 days. We grow lion's mane as a food to cook, and we make no health claims about it.
- Shiitake. Deep and savoury, the one for stock and stir-fries.
- Cinnamon cap. Warm brown caps and a mild, nutty taste.
- Pioppino. Brown caps and a woodland flavour.
Shiitake, cinnamon cap and pioppino also fruit within the same 5 to 14 day window.
Humidity, airflow and light
Humidity
An ultrasonic humidifier turns water from the 2.8-litre reservoir into fine mist. The humidity sensor reads to ±1.5% RH, and the temperature sensor to ±0.1 °C. The box controls humidity to the species profile. It does not control temperature.
Airflow
Two variable-speed fans, one for intake and one for exhaust, run between 500 and 6,000 rpm. Fresh air carries carbon dioxide out of the chamber. Mushrooms need that exchange to form caps, rather than long thin stems.
Light
The LED array runs blue, red and green channels at 465 to 475 nm, 620 to 630 nm and 515 to 525 nm. Each species profile sets the mix and the timing.

Frequently asked questions
How does the box work?
Scan the QR code on a block and the box loads that species' profile. It then holds the climate to that profile and reports to the app. You top up the 2.8-litre reservoir, usually once per cycle, and harvest when the block fruits.
Which mushrooms can I grow at home in the UK?
Pink, blue, black and golden oyster, lion's mane, shiitake, cinnamon cap and pioppino. All eight are edible gourmet species. None of them is a psilocybin mushroom.
Do I need to know anything about growing mushrooms?
No. The QR code brings the species profile, and the box handles the climate. You scan, top up the water and plug it in.
How loud is it?
Under 35 dB in operation, so it can sit in a kitchen, a study or a bedroom.
What does it cost to run?
About 2.2 kWh a month. Multiply that by your electricity unit rate to get your own figure. It runs at 5 V over USB-C.
Is it covered by a guarantee?
Yes. Lykyn gives a 1-year warranty on hardware and firmware.
Are VAT and import charges included in the UK price?
UK VAT at 20% is included in the price you see. Shipping is free and delivered duty paid, so import VAT and duty are collected at checkout. The carrier does not ask you for more on delivery.
How long does delivery to the UK take?
UK delivery takes 2 business days, and shipping is free.
Can I send it back?
